It’s almost mid-May though it only feels like yesterday when we danced to the hits of the previous years and welcomed the New Year in. While most of us are looking forward to longer and sunnier days, both literally and metaphorically, a question to ask yourself is: Is your home exterior ready for a summer refresh?
While there is nothing wrong with being wrapped or cuddled up in soft blankets with a book in one hand and hot chocolate or strong coffee cup in the other, needless to say cozying up in front of the nice and warm fire, summer does bring in renewed hopes and joy.
Ahead of the much-anticipated summer after two years when things are looking relatively ‘normal’, it’s time to prepare your home for the season.
Summer wreath:
One of the first door decor trends that come to mind is getting a lovely door wreath. Who said wreaths have to appear on your front door only when the festive period of Christmas kicks in? Summer wreaths have now increasingly charmed their way into the vogue.
While flowers and dried leaves make up for most wreath styles, you could indulge in fruits to bring in some freshness. Since pets have become such an important part of our lives, especially during and after the lockdowns, animal-friendly wreaths that bear such small fruits or non-toxic substances work wonders.
Or it may be no harm letting your Easter wreath with the cute bunny hang in on the door for a while more. You don’t need it to be Easter to see the bunnies, do you?
Clever lighting:
You could brighten up your porch or the driveway with some smart LED lights that are great when lit and won’t be much of a hassle to your electricity meter. You don’t have to get a huge pendant or a chandelier of the sort to hang it on your porch; you can make a statement with some clever solar-powered lights. Let’s make the most of the sun, shall we?
Gardening:
While this is not a door trend exactly, your front door could benefit if you could place a few potted plants in the corners of the porch or your driveway.
If your green thumb isn’t content with just working on the front door aesthetics, you could give your backyard a nice mow every once in a while and plant some flowers, vegetables or anything that you like to increase the vibe around your back door. After all, the rear entrance should also be borne in mind when it comes to redecorating the house.
Refresh your door:
A good few paint their current front doors to usher in periodic changes. Painting sounds great, doesn’t it? However, trust us when we say that the paint will fade over time.
Both, our Palladio and Avant Garde doors have a renolit foil finish, which stands for the true colour that will never fade over time.
Or if you want to unleash the Picasso within you, go all out and paint the exterior walls or the gate of your house with something that you’ve always wanted to experiment with.
